The following is a list of typical questions and answers relating to Fortinet's Certification program.

How do I register for a Fortinet course?
To formally register for a course, a registration form must be completed and faxed to: 613 225-2951.
How will I know my registration has been accepted for a course?
Upon receipt of a registration form, a confirmation email is sent to all students.
Do I need to purchase a FG60 to attend the course? Do I need to bring my own laptop?
No, Fortinet will provide all equipment and materials required for your training session (unless
otherwise specified).
How can I find hotels close to the course location I am attending?
A class confirmation and logistics email will be sent to all students 10 days prior to the start date.
This email will identify the location of the class facility, and provide information on local airports,
hotels, etc.
Can I pay for my courses with a company Purchase Order?
PO's can only be accepted by customers with an existing account
to utilize a PO can do so through their local reseller. A Fortinet registration submitted to formally register for the course of your preference.
Do I need to attend the classroom sessions to obtain certification?
Students can bypass the 201 course and attempt the FCNSA certification exam, however, 301 inclass
attendance is mandatory for the FCNSP level of certification.
Must I take the 201 level class before taking the 301 level course?
The 201 course is not a prerequisite for the 301 however FCNSA certification is required for the
FCNSP designation.
How can I provide input on Fortinet training classes?
All participants are encouraged to complete an online student survey at the completion of a class.
The online survey can be accessed on the main training webpage.
Does Fortinet offer private training sessions?
Yes, Fortinet can present a private session anywhere in the world. Please send an email to
training@fortinet.com for more information.
Do you have any self study or online courses?
The 101 Introductory course has been recorded and is available for download at the following link:

The 201 is available as a self-paced course. The 201 kit is available for purchase from Fortinet direct, or any of the Fortinet training partners.

How do I know if my Fortinet certification is still valid?
If you hold a FCSE certification that was obtained on FortiOS 2.8 it will be considered equivalent to the new FCNSA certification. Individuals holding this equivalent will be issued new FCNSA
certification numbers upon written request to training@fortinet.com. Individuals holding an FCSE
certification on FortiOS versions prior to version 2.8 must successfully complete the new FCNSA
or FCNSP exam in order to maintain their certification status. The current OS version of
certification is 3.0.
How are certification exams administered?
Fortinet exams are administered at your local ATC. Please contact training@fortinet.com for further details.
Can I take certification exams without taking the classes?
There are no mandatory course requirements, students can opt out of training and take the exams anytime.
How do I purchase an exam voucher and how much do they cost?
Exam vouchers can be purchased from your local ATC or by contacting training@fortinet.com.
FCNSA vouchers cost $150.00 USD and the FCNSP vouchers cost $250.00 USD.
If I purchase an exam voucher and fail the test, can I retake the exam?
A new exam voucher must be purchased for each exam attempt. Students who fail the exam within 4% can retake the exam immediately. Students failing with a larger margin must wait for 30 days before attempting the exam again. After failing the FCNSA for a third time, students must wait 30 days to retake the exam regardless of the margin. Students failing the FCNSP for the third time must -attend the 301 training class.
Once I pass the exam, how long till I receive my certificate?
Certificates will be distributed via email within 4-6 weeks of successfully completing a certification.
Are certification exams based entirely on topics covered in the recommended training courses?
No. The exam is based on topics from a number of areas including the recommended training
courses, product documentation, white papers, etc. In addition, the exam will test for knowledge
that would only be acquired by someone who has gained experience working with Fortinet
products in a real-world environment.
Is there a document outlining a course of study to prepare for the exam?
Yes, the Fortinet Training & Certification "Roadmaps to Success" provides a suggested list of
steps to prepare for exams. Located at:

Will the exam be available in languages other than English?
Fortinet Certification exams are currently available in English only. Fortinet is currently assessing
language requirements on an ongoing basis.
After passing the exam, how will I be able to identify myself as "Fortinet Certified"?
A number of marketing activities are being planned to promote the "Fortinet Certified"
designation. Successful candidates can receive a certificate and access to logos to identify
themselves as Fortinet Certified. (send requests to training@fortinet.com)
Will I be able to see the questions that I got wrong on the exam? If so, will I be informed of the correct answers?
Since there is a limited question pool available for the certification exams, it is not possible to
provide this type of information. This would seriously degrade the integrity of the exams. In order
to help candidates understand where they did well and where they need to improve, exam scores
will be broken down into topic areas covered by the exam and made available to the students

How can I provide input on Fortinet certification exams?
Input from both customers and partners is a very important component in the preparation of
certification exams. If you have general feedback on the exam or comments on specific
