Major Korean bakery chooses Fortinet's UTM solutions for superior performance and manageability.
SEOUL, South Korea, November 20, 2006
- Fortinet - the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions -
today announced that Crown Bakery, a major confectionary franchise in South Korea, has purchased and successfully deployed Fortinet's FortiGate multi-threat security platforms to secure its corporate network and customer database.
Crown Bakery is a well-known franchise in South Korea that manufactures and sells cakes, pastries and sweets. Previously, the company deployed software-only solutions for its security, but in recent months, the sheer numbers of computers on the network had rendered proper management, troubleshooting and updates virtually impossible. With the migration this year of customer data into web-based applications and databases, the time had come for a full review of security systems and procedures at the company.
Crown Bakery decided that they needed an appliance-type solution for ease of deployment and administration, and reviewed solutions from several vendors based on price, performance, features and the ability of the product to scale as the company expands. The company ultimately decided to go with Fortinet's FortiGate unified threat management (UTM) platforms because of its superior manageability, outstanding performance and cost-effectiveness.
The Information Services Support Team deployed one FortiGate-800 at the head office in Seoul, one FortiGate-200 and one FortiGate-60 in smaller branch offices in Pa-ju and Non-san respectively. All FortiGate systems had anti-virus, firewall, IPS, IDS, VPN, traffic shaping, content filtering and e-mail filtering functions activated. The team found that it could realize a stable and secure network environment for business with the FortiGate systems and even successfully blocked attacks from blended threats.
"We had confidence in Fortinet's FortiGate products because we already had a FortiGate-400 system running in Crown Confectionary, one of our affiliates, and we were impressed by its performance," said Lee Jong-il, Manager of the Information Services Support Team at Crown Bakery. "But what we liked about the FortiGate systems we purchased were the policy management capabilities and the intuitive interfaces. Even with the wide array of security options and features available, we found no difficulty in deploying, configuring and using them."
Fortinet's FortiGate multi-threat security platforms deliver comprehensive network and content protection through the integration of essential security applications and services - including antivirus, firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention (IPS), anti-spam, anti-spyware, Web filtering and traffic shaping. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date automatically through Fortinet's FortiGuard™ subscription services, which provide continuous updates to ensure protection against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans, and other threats - around the clock, and around the world.
"Franchises such as Crown Bakery frequently find our value proposition compelling," said Mr. Kim Jong-Duk, Country Manager of Fortinet Korea. "With our UTM solutions, these businesses do not need to hire an army of engineers, nor invest in expensive and complicated point security products and software in order to have a network that is not only secure and reliable, but also easy to manage and maintain."
