SK C&C Deploys Fortinet's Multi-threat Security Systems for Comprehensive, Reliable Network Protection

SK C&C's outsourcing business focuses on e-business design and engineering consultancy services, covering the entire project cycle, from concept to commissioning. Coinciding with a move to a new building in Bundang, Korea, SK C&C decided to update its existing security infrastructure which it found to be inadequate for defending against the recent slew of sophisticated malware outbreaks, such as viruses and worms. Tests conducted on their equipment showed vulnerabilities, which could allow for remote attackers to gain control of elements of their network. Additionally, SK C&C needed to ensure the availability of its network, and protect critical customer data against content-based attacks originating from both within and outside the network. However, the greatest security need for SK C&C was in protecting against e-mail threats. Approximately 2,500 SK C&C email users were at risk to receiving and spreading viruses, worms and other attacks that occurred daily.
To solve these problems, SK C&C deployed four FortiGate-3000 multi-threat security systems, taking advantage of the full breadth of functionality they offered, including antivirus, IPS, SSL/IPSec VPN, anti-spam, web content filtering, firewall and traffic-shaping . SK C&C also initiated an IT planning & operations plan designed to ward off spam mail completely.
After an evaluation period, SK C&C selected Fortinet's FortiGate-3000 systems because of its capabilities for real-time network protection, impressive performance and continuous push updates. The company evaluated several technology situations and ultimately selected Fortinet's FortiGate Antivirus Firewall platform for its antivirus and IDP and IDS functionality.
