Leading Indian Travel Management Company Secures Business with Fortinet FortiGate Systems

BTI Sita Selects Fortinet over Competitors for Multi-site Security Deployment

DELHI; India, September 19, 2005 - Fortinet - the confirmed market leader in Unified Threat Management and only provider of ASIC-accelerated, network-based multi-threat security systems for real-time network protection - today announced that BTI (Business Travel International) Sita Business Travel, a leading travel management company in India, has selected Fortinet's FortiGate™ integrated network security applicances to secure its business data. BTI Sita evaluated security solutions from a number of vendors, including Juniper, Cisco, and SonicWall, before deciding on Fortinet's solutions.

"We chose Fortinet over the others because it gave us the best scalability, upgradeability, efficient bandwidth management and optimization, superb content filtering, and awesome reporting facilities. All at the best price points," said Richard Bright, Head-IT at BTI Sita. "Fortinet gives us the best security at high performance, but low costs."

BTI Sita, owned by Kuoni Travel Group, the largest travel company in India, provides total travel solutions for business travel, incoming and outbound leisure travel, and money transfer products and services. Headquartered in New Delhi, BTI Sita has 13 locations in major cities across India. Previously, the company was running a decentralized network environment, with most of its data kept in Foxpro databases. Recently, the company has begun re-architecting its network and data infrastructure, consolidating data, and rolling out new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Centralized Reservation System (CRS) initiatives. With the move from a X.25 network with no Internet access to a TCP/IP network with connectivity to the Internet, and the deployment of new applications that relied heavily on mail servers, the company decided that it was time to develop and implement a security strategy.

The company found that, in addition to providing high-levels of security without compromising network performance, the FortiGate platforms also integrated well with their existing Active Directory network and provided security-reporting facilities - all necessary criteria for selection.

BTI Sita purchased several FortiGate platforms, including:

  • One FortiGate-200A system at its headquarters in Delhi to providr comprehensive security services for email, ERP and FTP data traffic and servers, as well as remote logging
  • Five FortiGate-100A systems in satellite offices around the country
  • Two FortiGate-60 systems which are currently under test, soon to be rolled out.

BTI Sita has deployed firewall, anti-spam, antivirus and IPS capabilities, as well as web content filtering for their FortiGate platforms.

"We have seen a dramatic reduction in spam and intrusions since implementing the Fortinet solution," says Richard Bright. "With our data increasing in volume and criticality, an effective security solution is paramount to our business. I am confident that Fortinet can provide the level of security we need for now, and for the future."

"Travel companies typically have high data traffic and stringent security requirements due to the confidentiality of the information they handle, such as customer credit card numbers and other personal information ," said Vishak Raman, country manager for Fortinet, Inc. "BTI Sita's confidence in our FortiGate multi-threat security products and services is a testament to our commitment to provide the best technology value to our customers."
