Fortinet Customer Recognized in MIS Asia IT Excellence Awards 2006

Nanyang Technology University is honored for strategic use of security technologies

SINGAPORE, August 21, 2006 - Fortinet - the pioneer and leading provider of multi-threat security solutions today announced that its customer, Nanyang Technological University, has been named one of the finalists in MIS Asia's IT Excellence Awards 2006. The university was recognized for its strategic use of network security technology.

The MIS Asia IT Excellence Awards honors outstanding organizations across Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and India) in both the private and public sector for excellence in technology. The awards recognize IT teams that create tangible business results through the skilful use of IT and business savvy. All entries went through two rounds of judging, with a third round in the event of a tie in scores. The Award's judges scored the organizations on their use of IT to drive revenue, sales and other business-related metrics.

Nanyang Technology University, a leading engineering college in Singapore, implemented Fortinet's FortiGate™-3600 unified threat management (UTM) platforms and FortiAnalyzer™-800 real-time network logging, analysis and reporting system to provide comprehensive and integrated security and auditing services to its eLearning Operations Center at the Centre for Educational Development (CED) at the university. In addition to improving overall security, the Fortinet integrated multi-threat security platform protected the university from attacks, including the Zotob worm, during 2005.

"Security is as much a business issue as it is a technology issue," said Mr. Hansen Chang, Fortinet's VP for Asia Pacific. "There are many considerations and trade-offs that technology teams need to make in the course of their work to meet both technology and business objectives. We are pleased and proud that Nanyang Technology University's team has been distinguished for their innovative deployment of Fortinet security technology."
