Thailand's dominant mobile operator, Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) purchases Fortinet's FortiGate™-3000 platforms following successful Call Center deployment.
Bangkok, Thailand, June 14, 2006
- Fortinet - the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions -
today announced that Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS) has purchased and deployed Fortinet's FortiGate-3600 Unified Threat Management (UTM) platforms in a deal worth USD$75,000, following a successful deployment of Fortinet's FortiGate™-300 at its Call Center.
AIS, an affiliation of the Shin Corporation, is the largest mobile communications services provider in Thailand. AIS operates dual-band GSM 900/1800 MHz networks that offer voice data and international roaming services to more than 16 million subscribers, with extensive cellular coverage throughout the kingdom.
AIS had earlier deployed a single FortiGate-300 unit to protect the Call Center section. The FortiGate-300's success in blocking content-based threats convinced the network team at AIS to purchase an additional two units of FortiGate-3600 enterprise-class unified threat management (UTM) solutions to protect its corporate network of 5,000 users.
Khun Krit Suwattanavinij, Computer & Data Network Manager at AIS, explains: "We were impressed with the performance and effectiveness of the FortiGate-300 at our Call Center, and we needed a security solution that would integrate well with other products that we were evaluating, that is, FortiMail™ and FortiManager™. The decision to go with the FortiGate-3600 was, therefore, easy to make. The deployment went smoothly and our engineers are now gathering data on its performance and effectiveness."
Fortinet's FortiGate-3600 antivirus firewalls are enterprise class systems that provide complete content security, protecting against the growing virulence of content-based threats at the network's edge, while delivering the highest possible performance. The FortiGate-3600 features six gigabit-capacity interfaces and up to 4 Gbps throughput. It is an optimal solution for large enterprises and scales to the most demanding networks.
The FortiGate-300A antivirus firewall provides performance, flexibility, and security for enterprise networks. The FortiGate-300A platform features two 10/100/1000 tri-speed Ethernet ports for networks running at or upgrading to gigabit speeds.
FortiGate platforms detect and eliminate viruses and worms at the network edge, and feature integrated firewall, content filtering, VPN, intrusion detection and prevention and traffic shaping capabilities. FortiGate platforms are kept up to date automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard™ Subscription Services, which provide continuous updates that ensure protection against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans, and other threats - around the clock, and around the world.
"Many of our larger corporate customers, like AIS, are adding Fortinet systems and solutions to their security infrastructure because of earlier successes with our products," said Hansen Chang, vice president of Asia-Pacific for Fortinet. "This is an impressive testament to the effectiveness of our technology and our understanding of our customers' pain points."
