Fortinet Wins MIS Managers' Best Choice Award 2005 for Second Consecutive Year

Taiwan's Institute of Information Industry names Fortinet winner in two categories, runner-up in one category.

TAIPEI, Taiwan, February 22, 2006 - Fortinet - the pioneer and market leader in Unified Threat Management and only provider of ASIC-accelerated, network-based multi-threat security systems for real-time network protection - today announced that Taiwan's Institute of Information Industry, has named Fortinet winner of the MIS Managers' Best Choice Award for the Unified Threat Management (UTM) category, and Instant Messaging/Peer-to-Peer (IM/P2P) category, as well as runner-up in the SSL/VPN category.

The Institute for Information Industry (III), a technology think tank for the government of Taiwan, is an organization composed of individuals from government and the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Industry, committed to advancing Taiwan as an ICT leader in the world. The MIS Managers' Best Choice Award recognizes the best and most innovative products and companies in a range of technology categories.

Fortinet's FortiGate™ series of integrated network security appliances stood out from the competition in the areas of ease of use, manageability and completeness of features. Their unique ASIC-based hardware architecture enables real-time performance without compromising depth and breadth of features. The high availability (HA) features in the higher-end FortiGate products make them suited for high traffic, carrier environments.

The FortiGate appliances provide complete content protection, with features such as anti-virus, anti-spam, intrusion prevention (IPS), firewall, SSL/IPSec VPN, content filtering and bandwidth management. Fortinet provides comprehensive network security solutions for companies ranging from SOHOs to large enterprises and service providers, in industries as diverse as telecommunications, government, education, and finance.

Each FortiGate system is automatically kept up to date and protection from the latest virus, spam and other network threats through Fortinet's FortiGuard™ Distribution Network, which pushes updates to FortiGate units around the world, and around the clock.

"We are all very pleased with these wins," said Hansen Chang, vice president, Asia Pacific for Fortinet. "Taiwan is one of the world's foremost hubs for technology innovation, and for us to be recognized for three categories, this vindicates our approach towards network and computer security. In an IDC report last year, we were named as the market leader in the UTM space. These awards validated not only our market leadership but also our technology features and effectiveness in solving security problems."
