Fortinet Named a "Red Herring 100" Company for the Second Consecutive Year

Award Recognizes Top 100 Private Companies in North America Driving the Technology Industry's Future

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 18, 2005 - Fortinet - the pioneer and market leader of Unified Threat Management and only provider of ASIC-accelerated, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection - today announced that it has been named one of the Red Herring 100 Private Companies in North America. This marks the second consecutive year that Fortinet has received a "Red Herring 100" honor.

Red Herring's lists of private companies are an important part of the magazine's tradition of identifying new and innovative technology companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring's editorial staff rigorously evaluated more than 900 private companies through a careful analysis of financial data and subjective criteria, including quality of management, execution of strategy, and dedication to research and development.

"Each company that won the approval of our team deserves special recognition for its business proposition and potential to shape the marketplace. We believe that this list represents the best of innovation in North America," noted the editors of Red Herring's May 23, 2005 issue that features this listing.

"We are pleased to be included in this prestigious list featuring some of the most successful and innovative private technology companies in North America," said Adam Stein, vice president of marketing at Fortinet. "The editors at Red Herring provide honest and independent research that offers additional industry validation of Fortinet's continued security innovation, successful growth and execution."

Fortinet's award winning ASIC-accelerated FortiGate™ systems deliver real-time complete content protection through the offering of a broad range of best in class security functions - including antivirus, firewall, virtual private networking (VPN), intrusion detection and prevention, content filtering, traffic shaping, and anti-spam. Fortinet's FortiGate systems are ICSA-certified in five separate security applications, easy to manage and provide cost-effective network-level and content-level protection at the network edge.
