Replacing point security products with Fortinet's integrated security platform reduces upfront expenses and provides enhanced security functionality for managed service provider
SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 9, 2004 - Fortinet - the only provider of ASIC-powered, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection
today announced that BAI Security (BAI), a Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP), has standardized on the Fortinet integrated security platform to better meet its customers' information security needs. Through the implementation of Fortinet's FortiGate™ platforms, including the FortiGate-300™ , FortiGate-60™, and FortiWiFi-60™ Antivirus Firewalls, the FortiManager™ management platform, and FortiProtect™ update service, BAI realized enhanced efficiencies in the areas of administration, installation and ongoing maintenance. In addition, BAI has been able to lower its upfront and ongoing expenses while at the same time reducing costs for clients.
As an MSSP, BAI's objective is to protect the information assets of businesses around the world, supporting regional and multi-national customers in the banking/finance, healthcare and education industries. In order to meet its customers' information security needs, BAI offers services in the areas of Managed Security (managed firewall, intrusion detection/prevention, antivirus, content filtering and security log correlation), Security Auditing (penetration testing and internal auditing), and Policy Development (acceptable use, configuration and administration standards). Looking to more cost-effectively and easily deliver and manage these service offerings, BAI chose to consolidate all of these services onto a single, integrated security platform. After evaluating several vendors, BAI chose Fortinet's FortiGate platform.
"BAI's business depends on providing continuous network security services, in particular to data intensive industries such as healthcare and financial services," said Michael Bruck, president, BAI Security. "After careful evaluation, we determined that Fortinet's integrated security platforms, as an alternative to our previous network comprised of point security products, supports our core business and provides a flexible platform for our business to expand."
Fortinet Enables Managed Services
BAI's integrated network security platform consists of multiple Fortinet FortiGate antivirus firewall systems that enable the company to deliver a range of security services to small and medium enterprise customers. These systems include the Fortinet FortiGate-300 systems to meet the requirements of mid-size enterprise customers, FortiGate-60 models for small office and branch offices, and FortiWiFi-60 units for customers needing flexible wireless access with complete content security. All FortiGate units include ICSA-certified antivirus, firewall, IPSec VPN and intrusion detection/prevention functionality, along with content filtering, antispam and traffic shaping capabilities - all at one price with no costly per-application or per-user license fees. All FortiGate systems are kept up to date with the latest antivirus attack and intrusion protection signature databases by Fortinet's FortiProtect Network. The FortiProtect Network provides around the clock, automatic, instantaneous updates to FortiGate units worldwide, and in conjunction with BAI's customized security event data ensures BAI's customers have the most up-to-date security available. BAI is using Fortinet's FortiManager platform to manage and maintain all FortiGate systems deployed in its network or at its customers' premises.
"By standardizing our managed security service offering on the Fortinet platform, we've significantly reduced our up-front costs in new implementations while at the same time lowering costs for our clients," continued Bruck. "We are also now able to offer even more security services and functionality than before, which is driving new business opportunities in emerging markets."
"Companies of all sizes are realizing the benefits of managed security services as a way to effectively and efficiently combat today's most complicated Internet threats," said Richard Kagan, vice president of marketing at Fortinet. "Fortinet has had strong acceptance in the MSSP market because our integrated platform provides MSSPs such as BAI Security with a unique ability to deliver differentiated and profitable offerings that meet a variety of customer needs without having to purchase, manage and maintain multiple point solutions."
