Integrated Wireless Security Gateway And
Fortinet Channel Program Each Receive Four Star Rating From
Leading Reseller Publication
SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 30, 2004 Fortinet
the only provider of ASIC-powered, network-based antivirus
firewall systems for real-time network protection today
announced that the companys FortiWiFi 60 antivirus firewall
solution for secure wireless access has earned the CRN Test
Center Recommended rating. Both the FortiWiFi 60 system, which
combines complete content protection within a wireless access
point, and Fortinets channel program, earned prestigious
four star ratings. The FortiWifi 60 system was touted for
its ease of deployment, policy compliance capabilities and
effectiveness in a variety of network environments.
CRN Test Center engineers reviewed the FortiWiFi 60 system
and praised it for addressing the major downside of wireless
access points - low security. The unit integrates network-based
antivirus protection, a stateful packet inspection (SPI) firewall,
Web and email content filtering, VPN, intrusion detection
and prevention and traffic shaping into a single solution.
These features work together to ensure wireless users have
high performance access without compromising the integrity
of company networks.
Hot-spot operators should be concerned if they are
not taking adequate steps to protect their customers from
viruses, worms and the occasional hacker, noted CRNs
technology editor Frank Ohlhorst in his review of the product.
Installation was straightforward. The quick-start guide
and setup wizard make simple work of deployment, and default
settings offer sufficient protection for most networks. One
of the FortiWiFi 60's biggest strengths is its policies capabilities.
Administrators can craft specific policies around particular
access needs. The FortiWiFi 60s integrated content-filtering
service offers a good solution for both education and corporate
environments.
Fortinets FortiWiFi 60 antivirus firewall provides
an all-in-one solution that ensures secure mobile connectivity
by combining a wireless access point with a complete suite
of network security functions, so wireless users can enjoy
worry free, high-performance access without compromising the
integrity of company networks. The FortiWiFi 60 system features
an integrated 802.11b and 802.11g WLAN access point and allows
administrators to apply antivirus, firewall, VPN, and intrusion
detection and prevention services to wireless connections.
In addition, the FortiWiFi 60 system provides advanced wireless
security features, including WEP, enforced IPSec encryption
for WLAN connections, rogue access point detection and the
ability to upgrade to WPA protocols. The FortiWiFi 60 antivirus
firewall also is equipped with dual WAN links to support redundant
Internet connections, and an integrated 4-port switch that
eliminates the need for an external hub or switch, giving
wired devices a direct connection to the FortiWiFi-60. Two
USB ports offer support for connections to dial-up modems.
Ideally suited for small businesses, remote offices, retail
stores, broadband telecommuter sites, the FortiWiFi-60 is
unmatched in capabilities, speed, and price/performance.
With the growing interest of wireless connectivity
among businesses of all sizes, it is essential that solution
providers be capable of offering layers of security that extend
beyond desktops to the various access points, whether wired
or wireless, where threats might exist, said Richard
Kagan, vice president of marketing for Fortinet. Weve
been very pleased with the market acceptance of the FortiWiFi
60 antivirus firewall system, and are pleased that the staff
at CRN recognizes the value this solution can bring to our
partners and their customers.
Fortinet products are sold through a worldwide network of
solution providers who are supported via the FortiPartner
Program. The Program offers three levels - Platinum, Gold
and Silver to meet the needs of VARs and resellers
with different business
requirements. FortiPartners can enjoy high margins, and can
also benefit from additional services such as co-op and market
development funds (MDF), a partner Web portal containing tools
and information, complimentary sales training, and sales and
marketing support.
The CRN Test Center evaluates hardware, software and various
technology infrastructure components and evaluates each product
based on its price, performance, ease of use and ability to
deliver what the product promises. To view the entire FortiWifi
